Shangri-la 11 review

Pretty boring ep as it mainly focuses on economy loli (Karin) and token dude (Kusanagi).

Kusanagi’s ship sinks causing he and his crew to be stranded at see on a lifeboat. As their leader, he automatically blames himself for his predicament but is reassured by his subordinates that he’s a real BRO as he was the one who saved them all. He keeps dreaming about himself as a kid getting the magic knife (that lolGonzo has still not told us anything about besides calling needles of doom to rain from the sky). Later, when a soldier says he will never see his significant other again, Kusanagi tells him to stfu and proceeds to say something manly which I did not really care to remember nor watch cause 1) token dude is not interesting and 2) it was cliche. The little band were eventually rescued at the end of the episode.

As for economy loli, her story begins with her sitting in front of her computer like a good, money-making nerd. Then, she starts feeling ronery for human interaction especially that of her parents.  As luck would have it, her parents send her an email where they said that they will be returning for Japan and would be able to have a meal with their daughter. GOOD JOB, PARENTS!!! Anyway, somehow a black cat has managed to get through high security and is in her dark room of roneryness. As with any good loli, she goes to talk to said cat. Suddenly, she hears a voice and sees on the computer screen that some skinny blonde haired kid is outside. As with the cat, he has got through surveillance and whatever other security measures were available; hopefully there were lazers. He keeps telling her how she should break out of her self-imposed cage and go out to the outside world. Karin almost goes crazy from his talk of nerdism is wrong and bad for soul. I obviously disagreed since I believe that, with the internet and computers, we gain a new soul; a horrible, trolling soul. In the end, Karin eventually ventures out to the outer world and sings some song about the canary forgetting how to sing. The meaning of the song is only revealed at the end of the episode where one of Ryouko’s lackeys reads the bio of the blonde kid who met Karin. According to another lackey, the child’s codename was Canary and he was an experiment of Atlas and also the predecessor of Kuniko and Mikuni. He had died 5 years ago in the facility. So.. he helped Karin find the outside world which he could never achieve. Also… the balck cat was his and was also a ghost.

In other news… Kuniko finally decides to attack Atlas, Mikuni still wants to see the sun though it can kill her, Ryouko is still hot and Shangri-la’s Luca still has the masochistic hots for Ryouko.

Next ep, MOAR OF MAI WAIFU i.e. Sayoko!!!

I like to rank random things… Why? I have no idea….

Well, today, I decided to rank the Final Fantasy Battle Themes!!!

Final Fantasy is a game which is about as old as I am. It’s a JRPG which….

BAH! Who DOESN’T know what Final Fantasy is?!!!

AAAAAANYHOW…..

I’ve divided the rankings into 2…. One for the classic era… and one for the… uh…. Not so classic era! Classic era is from FFI-FFVI, Final Fantasy Legend and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest *lolwut?!* and the not so classic era comprises of… the rest….

The battle themes are of course the songs that play when you encounter a random battle.

Classic Era:

01)   Listen to that rock song!!! Never mind that it came from a crap game… but that song! It’s so inspiring and upbeat!!! It actually makes you FEEL like killing random bugs! The main melody is so…. Badass….

02)   The FIRST Final Fantasy battle theme. I admit I only started liking it after I heard the Black Mages version. But this version is so endearing in its own little way. Gaawwww

03)   Technically the first game of the Mana series. Yeap, those guys at Square USA slapped on the Final Fantasy title to boost sales. Anyhow, this song has an awesome confusing sounding base…

04)   It actually sounds like some elegant dance song… hahaha. The second part of the song sounds like some generic haunted house theme. SO CUTE!

05)   Yeah yeah, this game is actually Makai Toushi Sa Ga. There’s just something kinda cute about this battle theme… but I have no idea WHAT.

06)   THIS SONG MAKES ME FEEL LIKE A HERO!!!!

07)   Somehow this song is kinda meh… Not that inspiring of a song

08)   It sounds noble and heroic and all… but it sounds kinda… ordinary…

09)   I found this one to be kinda boring… There, I said it….

Not-so-Classic Era

01)   This song actually sounds like some political debate news conference song. But it still kicks ass nonetheless. I mean c’mon, it’s upbeat, and actually makes you feel… like fighting!

02)   Durr hurr hurr…. The legendary song…. Fast paced and upbeat as hell… it’s kinda hard to hate this one!

03)   Never played the game but I heard the OST in which it came from. It sounds so epic and orchestral! Makes you feel badass just listening to it!

04)   The game is not even out yet and I’m falling in love with this theme! Ok, I admit… it’s partly because of the violins….

05)   The song from the first Final Fantasy that I’ve played! It retains the classic feel of the earlier FFs but pales in terms of epic. But it still holds a special place in my heart

06)   This song sounds kiddy…. And I’m killing things… It gets annoying the more you hear it… which is bad… considering the amount of random battles in this game….

07)   ….get this thing away from me! It’s not a bad song… but it just doesn’t feel … battle-ish!

Yeap, there’s some pretty wtf choices at my selection of songs… but meh, as long as it has ‘Final Fantasy’ in the title, I’m game.

So, that’s it I guess…. Till then….

First review post: Saki 10

Anime opens with random comedic duo taking the wrong train to the competition venue then we pan to the OP. Potential yuri time is wasted…

Geass girl comes back and the rest of the Kazekoshi girls and the teacher congratulate her. The teacher is a massive tsundere/ potential sub for Geass girl. Fluffy happiness ensues where the rest of the girls help Geass girl with stats.

Now we move to Ryumonbochi’s room where Jun is sulking after her loss and says I AM A WOMAN when Toka says BE A MAN. ADMIT DEFEAT. oh lolGonzo….

Finally we see our main characters who are waiting for Taco-tan’s return. They randomly talk and trigger a flag for Saki to rape sleep with sleep next to Nodoka. When Taco-tan enters the room she looks hopelessly defeated and promptly cries into LORD PRESIDENT’s glorious chest.

Then we get the MEGANE match… pretty uneventful save for DURR HURR MEGA BEGINNERS LUCK. Couldn’t RAGE though.. the Tsuruga megane who won is so moe.

Speaking of moe, we are finally introduced to Koromo aka Bunny Loli. She keeps going in SD mode and causes my black anon heart to stop and then make me go HNNNNNGHHHHHHH…

Ep ends with Geass girl having a panic attack after recognising  LORD PRESIDENT as the only person who had given a hard-time during the last competition that they faced each other.

Conclusion: As with all other episodes of Saki, it has Saki/Nodoka yuri, demeaning of Lelouc, a healthy dose of moe with a sprinkling of mahjong.

And now… your dose of MAI CHILDHOOD:
